Kiss me, Kate

(Vogue US Sept 2011, all photos by Mario Testino)

While flipping through the big fat September issue of Vogue US, I came accross these beautiful pictures of Kate Moss's summer wedding by legendary photographer, Mario Testino.  They are just too beautiful not to share!!  I guess that's part of the perks with being a supermodel: you can be assure to have all the gowns, the deco, the photo and venue will be taken care of by your celebrity friends that also happen to be the best in the industry.  And everything featured on Vogue's most important issue of the year!!!

Ah...I wish I can just call up Stella McCartney and ask her to design Ayden's outfit for whatever occasion that's coming up...hah...the closest I got was a few pieces from her last collaboration with Gap!

HAIR TREND - Hair Turban

Are scarf turbans still "in"?  I was just wondering if it's strictly a thing of a few seasons ago or is it still a fashionable hairstyle?  I recall first seeing it on the runway of Prada Spring 2007, then on Carrie in Sex & the City 2, then on every trendsetting celebrity and blogger...am I really the last one to sport this style?

Ah...who cares?  I'm probably the first one to wear a scarf turban in Brossard (not that I consider this suburb of Montreal anywhere close to a fashion capital)!!!

Scarf - Hermes; Sunglasses - Marni; Tank - H&M

GIRL CRUSH - Natalia Kills

Natalia Kills has a killer voice, style and attitude!  This British singer/songwriter, who's real name is Keery-Fisher, has just released her first album Perfectionist earlier this spring.  My two favorite singles from the album, Wonderland and Mirrors, are instant hits on the chart!

Apart from her musical talent, Natalia is not like most other upcoming female pop stars: she's sexy and fierce.  Her fashion inspiration seems to be mostly dedicated to electric rock from the 80's with moto leather jackets, bodysuits and fuschia lips.  And the girl has equal strong bone structure and eyebrows to match the attitue!  Not exactly the girl next door...but exactly the rockstar next door!!

The Beauty and the Wack - MTV's VMA 2011

(Katie Holmes)

(Kim Kardashian

(Katy Perry)

(Katy Perry)

(Lady Gaga)

(Lady Gaga)

It was the MTV's Video Music Award last night and I was tuning in for the performance and the fashion!  As every year, we can expect a good show with out-of-this-world outfits from our out-of-this-world artists.

First off, Beyonce was beaming in a one-shoulder fire red Lanvin dress (not her usual skin-tight gowns), which set off speculations of pregnancy!  After her performance, she confirmed it by showing her bump!!!

Now, at the VMAs, we can't expect the beauties without the wacks!  Speaking of which, the wackiest outfit goes to Nicki Minaj in a Harajuku Princess Warrior outfit.  True to her personal style, she left with Best Hip Hop Video while dragging her two meter long stuffed animal purse.

Selena Gomez in a Julien MacDonald frock was by far the best dressed (in my humble opinion)!  The plunging neck, black lace trimming and legs, legs, legs!!!  Watch out Bieber!

I was surprised to see Katie Holmes, but she looks stunning and probably at her best within the last two years in an Azzedine Alaia halter dress.  As for Kim, I don't really know what to say...the girl has flawless features and so much potential, but just doesn't deliver class...what can I say?

Katy Perry was in kimono style mini dress by Versace on the red carpet.  Then later changed into Christian Dior's head-to-toe runway look including an enormous yellow cube hat to accept her Best Video Music award.  The two outfits are wild but I actually love them both on Katy!

Lastly, but definitely not least: Lady Gaga performed as her male alter ego Jo Calderone.  The attitue, the jerks, the cigarette behind one ear...every detail is to the tea.  She is just a great performer!

OBSESSION DU JOUR - Burberry Prorsum Mink Cap

As you all know by now, I love to buy hats.  This fall, I'm eyeing on the Burberry Prorsum jaguar mink fur cap featured on the runway and campaign.  Luxe and warmth can be achieved this winter with a few clics on Burberry.com and $1600+ later...sweater, coat, pants and boots not included.

Maybe Zara will come out with a similar design for $39 + tax?

OUTFIT DU JOUR - Menswear Plaid

Inspired by my recent post on plaids, I decided to take out my new plaid shirt, which was bought this spring but never got a chance to wear.

So this is not really a menswear inspired shirt (or boyfriend shirt), it's actually a menswear piece from Club Monaco.  Other than the fact that the shoulder seems a little big, it fits just rightTo avoid looking like lumber jack, I paired it with a silk cami and skinny jeans.  And in case that doesn't work, I also added my new Celine sandals, with ultra feminie needle heels.

Off to downtown!  Enjoy the weekend!!!

Shirt - Club Monaco men's; Jeans - Miss Sixty; Silk cami - DKNY; Purse - Hermes; Sandals - Celine; Watch - Hermes; Necklace - Hermes

OBSESSION DU JOUR - Alexander Wang Simona Heels

So what that these Simona heels are not practical with the rabbit fur sweeping the pavement, picking up all kinds of dirt?!?  If we wanted practicality, we would get a pair of Hunter's rainboot and never worry about being caught in rain, snow, mud, you name it!  I, myself, am a mother of a young toddler and can tell you that these heels are reserved for a special night out (without kids) where style and glamour are all that counts!

Just look at them on the model with thoses cigarette pants...I want I want!!!

LAST NIGHT - Celebrating her Big 3-0

I was invited to my dear friend's big 30th surprise birthday party last night and let me tell you this: a surprise party is not easy to plan, but a surprise birthday party for this girl is even more challenging!  Not to say she doesn't deserve it, au contraire!  However, I'm just really impressed with all the work and effort put in to the organization by sweet fiance.

Venue: private room at Shodan Japanese restaurant downtown Montreal
Time: before the birthday girl arrives (it's a surprise party afterall)
Menu: buffet style japanese menu and lychee martini as cocktail
Cake: Chanel of course!

Birthdays are always fun, but celebrating with all your closest friends (in style nonetheless) is what makes it memorable.
